Data Engineer
About The Job
If you enjoy hunting down why a number looks wrong, only to discover it was a single missing comma, and you get a kick out of seeing complex data slowly reveal a clear pattern, you’ll feel at home at Karnov.
About the team
You will be part of a small data team that produces data solutions for BI reporting and product analysis. The team lives at the intersection of technical and business understanding, with a strong focus on technical work. We are currently two people, and our main stakeholders are the BI and Insight functions.
At Karnov, we work on a foundation of trust. That means we offer great flexibility and expect you to take ownership and responsibility together with your team for the work.
The role
As a Data Engineer you will work on our data platform, which is currently being migrated to Microsoft Fabric. This includes, for example, creating pipelines and semantic models for Power BI.
You will:
Design, build and maintain data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric and SQL.
Model data for BI reporting and product analytics.
Work closely with analysts and product managers to understand data needs.
The Stack
Languages: T-SQL, Python, DAX
Data Platform: Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data warehouses, Data Factory, Semantic Models)
Analytics & BI: Power BI.
Experience with all of these isn’t required; if you’ve worked in similar ecosystems and are keen to learn, we’d like to hear from you. We are currently migrating away from Tableau and a traditional data-warehouse setup, so experience from those setups is also valuable.
Must Have
Minimum 5 years of experience from a similar position
Strong SQL and problem-solving skills
Experience working in a data-focused role, e.g. data engineer or BI developer
A growth mindset anchored in collaboration & communication
Nice to Have
Experience with Power BI
Experience with Python
